London spoken word poet and musician, Kojey Radical, unleashed a raw video for Open Hand. With Kojey on the ground and in shackles, he soon breaks free and begins a passionate performance in this minimal and visually striking video. Open Hand continues with commentary on the divides within race and class, and how we should stand side by side with open hands and acceptance, instead of closed fists.
Stand beside me.
Not as followers as thinkers
So we no longer have to look
Up for guidance we can look
Side by side
What side are you on.
We are no different
Open Hand is a powerful song that received an equally powerful and captivating video for who I think is the most intriguing artist in the past while. You can watch the video for another powerful song, “Bambu,” here. I’ll be keeping a close eye on Kojey Radical’s future moves, and you should too.
