After spending a couple years on the live circuit, Derry, Ireland-based Susie Blue dropped her debut album last week and with it, a video for the upbeat title track with glimmers of shoegaze guitars. Inspired by the confusion and uncertainty of Blue’s teenage years, the video follows a pair of misfits causing some lighthearted trouble through pastel coloured scenes. Speaking on the album and single, Blue says:
“This album is a collection of songs I’ve been writing and playing with the band for a couple of years, and is the story of my teenage years after coming out,” explains the young singer-songwriter. The title refers to the many times I “didn’t mean to care” about people or things but I couldn’t help myself. A lot of the songs are about my relationships with past girlfriends, some good and some bad – but I hope people will bring their own interpretations and feelings to them too. If a song I wrote relates to someone, then that means everything for me.”
