Bang bang bang. French electro duo Scratch Massive just dropped the first single from their forthcoming album, along with a dope video. Sunken is mysterious and ominous. It looms beyond and creeps into the fabric of its surroundings. Seismographic synths slice the seductive atmosphere while the colossal drums thunder their way through. Just like the natural landslide that caused several beachside homes in the Pt. Fermin area of San Pedro, CA to slide into the ocean in 1929. Maud Geffray’s (half part of the dynamic duo) vocals are lucid and ethereal, juxtaposed against Leonie Pernet’s mystical voice with a dangerous edge.
In the Sebastien Chenut (the other half side of the duo) directed video, facial close-ups are transposed with light psychedelics and a spectral sheen. Like an endless night that rises into nothingness but is slowly swallowed by the light.
Scratch Massive’s “Sunken City” LP is due March 23 via bORDEL.
