After releasing his debut Before Sleep EP and working with the likes of Woodes and OKBADLANDS, Golden Vessel (Max Byrne) has been making some heavy waves in Australia and beyond. As he gears up for his forthcoming EP, he’s teamed up with fellow Brisbane-native Emerson Leif for a new single and accompanying video for Tell The-Girl.
Byrne and Leif explore the idea of unconditional love and how it’s expressed in its truest form with light instrumentation that feels like it’s fluttering with the wings of a golden nimbus. Glitchy freckles and pitched vocals fill the small spaces between syncopated percussion until ornate layers swell with Leif’s brilliantly effortless vocals.
For the quirky video, Byrne said:
“Shot in Melbourne over a few days with director Annelise Hickey, who is really great work with by the way. The video explores the movement of the song, and reflects on being stuck in the dull mindset of suburban life. I’m really happy with the way it turned out and it was great to have a few of my good friends (Woodes, elkkle, Seywood, Nico Ghost & Abraham Tilbury) making cameos as well.”
Watch Tell The-Girl below and look out for more from Golden Vessel in the coming months.
