Late last year saw the release of Daniella Mason’s first EP, “Emotional State”, in her State of Mine sound series featuring the single “Morning Mourning”. The second in the series, “Mental State”, was released month and Mason has just released a video for Deepest Of Wells.
Mason explores opening up and being vulnerable with someone as well as that bottomless gaze into your own mind. It’s dreamy and woozy with a tranquil lapping tide like an evening storm sinking into the melodious blue. So open your lungs and let the tide swell.
Speaking on the equally dreamy video, Mason says:
“The aim was to create a dream sequence. It felt like the only way to make this beautifully existential feeling of wandering throughout your mind… how aimless and untethered it can feel. But this video also tells the story of inviting someone into the farthest reaches of your psyche, both dark and light, and the vulnerability of it all. When it came to the specific visuals we wanted to incorporate, I wanted to pull directly from the way I have pictured my own mind… the dark, small corners that have turned into vast, bright space; the deep well-turned ocean turned dry land; and the chaos brought into order.”
“Mental State”, released on June 14th, is the second of four EPs that Daniella Mason will be releasing over the course of the next year as part of her State of Mine sound series. Each album (Emotional State, Mental State, Physical State, and Spiritual State) explores the different parts of our humanity that we tend to suppress and have difficulty embracing.
