Following a string of successful singles over the last year, Swedish-Iranian singer-songwriter Ayelle returns with a timely new single. On Silverplates, the emerging artist takes aim at male entitlement. “Silverplates is a metaphor for male privilege and the entitlement felt towards female identifying bodies,” explains Ayelle. “Too often in this narrative, women are made to feel as if they’re disposable, and it’s an exhausting landscape to navigate.”
With help from regular collaborator Crayon, Silverplates ripples with intoxicating synths that shred like a cluster of clear icy glass against a myriad of percussive notes that throb under Ayelle’s seductive vocals. Listen as she slews confrontational words over this slow-burning soundscape right here and look out for another future slated EP.
