Manchester-based Mewn has spent the past two years perfecting their sound in a decrepit local mill where their studio resides, only emerging for the occasional performance in their post-punk scene and always returning with a stronger sense of their own identity. They’ve now shared that identity with the world on their debut single No Country.
With an ominous lo-fi hum, No Country sprawls into dark corners and hollow cracks with mournful howls. Mewn says the single offers, “different emotional perspectives on a character that society has left behind, culminating in a cry of resignation that does not offer peace, but further struggle.” Listen here.
Mewn’s debut EP is expected later this year.
