Malmo-based fuzz-pop outfit Mary Anne’s Polar Rig returns with new single All I Need. It’s the third off their forthcoming album and follows ‘Your House’ and ‘Crash’. While at first it sounds like the band has turned down a bit with frontwoman Malin Hofvander’s vocals front and centre, All I Need propels into stellar chaos.
“‘All I Need’ is probably the song that sticks out most on this record,” comments Hofvander. “I wrote it when I wasn’t feeling too good about myself and was really struggling with writing new music. Then one day this song just kind of poured out of me from nowhere and is really just an honest track about self-esteem.”
In early 2019, Mary Anne’s Polar Rig recorded their full-length debut ‘Makes You Happy’. It’s a collection of songs written between 2016 and 2019, some of them being the first the band ever wrote; “Some of them I wrote when we started the band nearly 5 years ago. I was only 16, living at home with my parents, going to high school, discovering Malmö for real, constantly meeting new people, falling in and out of love. That’s what I did at the time and it was also what I mostly wrote about.” Hofvander explains.
