Virginia-based newcomer Harvie Ashby is a 22-year-old multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter/producer who’s been self-producing his own records since he was 16. With a new album on the horizon, Ashby released Dagger Tooth, a fuzzed out garage-rock anthem that finds the emerging artist playing each instrumental in typical DIY fashion.
From the bottom of the deep shattered azure, Ashby ascends with ferocious desperation and the vestige of promises. The scuzz seeps and stings the fibers of his guitar with spiderish grins as they chug alongside the crack of iron drums spilling blood before his eyes. “You’re gonna carry that weight/ Dagger Tooth with the lips of a smoking gun/ Let them hollow tips spray,” belts Ashby with a choking grip and the inexhaustible weight of indifference, strife, and relentless discord.
