After amassing over 100k Spotify streams for her last single, Animal, South London’s Caswell just released her powerful new single titled Brother.
Written as a personal and honest letter to her estranged brother, Brother opens with an emulated typewriter before her rich vocals croon alongside a light jazz melody. Horns crunch with the weeping wail of Caswell’s desperate plea for her brother to return to their family and reconcile their troubles. “Brother, won’t you tell me why you’re sad/ Maybe you’ll see, that I am not the enemy,” she continues with a soaring climax of thick synths like a grotesque howl filled with loss and yearning, and closes with the same sorrowful typewriter.
This is only the beginning for Caswell.
