Indie folk singer-songwriter Nick Byrne follows up his “Through The Tall Grass” EP with a poignant reflection on nostalgia and seizing the moment on Houses.
Inspired by a trip to Liverpool and a neighbourhood littered with empty desolate homes, a husky yet gentle Byrne conjures an optimistic message using his relationship with his father as the base. Time, love, and care create the foundations of what feels like home to him as he urges listeners to use what little time we have to build something of our own. Something that feels like home.
The single artwork for the track features a 6-year-old Nick Byrne raking the grass in front of his childhood home, which has been placed in front of a forest and sky, in harmony with the songs nostalgic concept and ultimately optimistic message.
