After a career of releasing pop music with hints of hip hop and jazzy funk guitars, James Beau Barclay returns to his folk roots with Want Me.
Stripped back with a finger-picked acoustic, Want Me is an intimate affair as Barclay laments over a past lover. Gone are the days of time slipping past in basement apartments as you danced together and made shadow puppets together. Now all that’s left is the somnolent gnaw of despair and wrinkled eyes left behind from the fading image of their face.
The rest of 2019 will see Barclay release one song a month leading up to a new album in 2020.
