I only recently discovered Miami based KAIXEN from his incredible old school Usher inspired Adore You (which I’ve been listening to obsessively), around the same time his latest EP Sympathy Symphony was released. And holy shit am I glad I did. It’s rare to find an artist who’s cataloge you haven’t heard before and/or hear a debut album and be completely blown away by it.
Openers Leesh and Insane really sets things off with their desperate pleas and instrumentation. Chef D’oeuvre glides with its majestic ambiance and the desperate cries return on the amazing Ciara sampled Nothing I Won’t Do. Closer and favourite Sounds Of draws out some Miguel vocals for an emotional and beautiful finale. Sympathy Symphony is a gorgeous little EP, expressing KAIXEN’s pain from a lost and maybe unrequited love. Who is KAIXEN and what is the single most important thing we should know about you?
Kaixen is my alias I have been producing under for the past 2 years. And I don’t know, that’s a lot of pressure, haha.

What was the inspiration behind Sympathy Symphony?
My romanticized perception of love and the pain/obstacles that it comes with.
The Underoath sample on “Drowning” is dope. What hardcore bands are you listening to these days?
I actually don’t listen to hardcore. I grew up listening to a lot of pop and indie rock. Underoath is pretty much the heaviest band I listen to, haha.
There’s a lot of emphasis on numbers on soundcloud. How do you feel about that?
It’s going to happen. It doesn’t bother me. I believe if you make something good and work hard you will get the recognition you deserve.
