Ebba Ågren and Michel Gustafsson are the long-time lovers behind the Malmö, Sweden-based duo Wy. With their debut album due this year, the duo has released the first single and accompanying video for Bathrooms.
In this slow burn of dream pop with lush emotive guitars, Ågren pleads with a desperate hope about not being a failure in this world of high expectations. “I wish I was someone that kids thought was real and strong/ but I’m a child with my hands over my ears,” she sings with a vulnerable cry before she howls into the ephemeral space with gorgeous vocals that feel infinite. The wistful dejection that simmers in the reverberating melodies married with Ågren’s power creates one beautiful piece of music, and we cannot wait for their debut album, Okay.
