There’s no need for an introduction. We all know Daniel Caesar is blowing up. From performing at Toronto’s Manifesto Festival alongside Kaytranada and Anderson .Paak, to his upcoming show at Sounds of Brazil in New York, Caesar‘s got everyone talking about him. And for good reasons.
His latest release consists of two tracks, both with instrumentals provided by BADBADNOTGOOD. Get You, featuring Kali Uchis, fully embodies the harmonious experience of love. Sensual guitar chords and drums instantly create that warm, lovestruck mood, while Caesar and Kali paint the rest of the picture with their gorgeous vocals. “Who would have thought I’d get you?” He serenades his love in the hook, with a melodic voice that’ll warm your heart.
Caesar touched on the inspiration for this song earlier this month: “I met a girl and got very involved. She brought things and feelings out of me that I didn’t know I had. ‘Get You’ is a song of praise to a love I didn’t even feel I deserved at the time,” he told Billboard.
Japanese Denim keeps the love going. Over the romantic, almost nostalgic instrumental, Caesar ponders what “forever” means with his love. “You’re my four leaf clover/ I’m so in love, so in love/ There’s no one above up above/ Forever’s a long time, yes.”
