Kaptan Pays Tribute With The Incandescent “Hardest Part”

For his first release of the year, Nashville’s Kaptan (Andrew de Torres) slows things down a bit with a tribute to his late mother. “This particular song is much different than anything I’ve done for this project,” explains de Torres. “I lost my mother a few years ago and wrote this song about that. It’s definitely a little darker, sadder, but it’s probably one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever written.”

Hardest Part still features de Torres’ incandescent melodies, but here they’re awash with solemn undertones. Electronic beats pop and freckle like luminous orbs of fleeting memories around crunchy bass and shimmering guitars, while de Torres’ hushed vocals fill the empty spaces of these lonesome days. Listen below and look for the forthcoming EP, “Over You”.
