Alex Silva, Jesse Chevan, and Evan Johnson are the New York-based trio behind Face of Man who are due to release their second album, Bouquet, later this year. The first taste of what to expect comes in the form of Lavender.
Written when one of the member’s mother was in the final stages of cancer, Lavender is the most personal song the band has written to date. Over gentle instrumentation with a light flickering blush of fragrant colours and rich harmonies, the trio mix the mundane and the sublime of this painful experience, and the strange beauty of her resilience with the sadness. Although a deeply difficult experience, Face of Man lift the single with smooth vocals and a hopeful warmth.
