London’s RYD follows up the wonderful Simple Place To Be with another minimal beauty titled Alter. With the fall season upon us and our scenery changing, Alter is an enchanting listen about changing ourselves to fit in. Like masking the pain within us, or not being honest with ourselves and others out of fear. Behind a haze of reverie are distant vocals, lost in a wash of white and greys that seeps into your skin. It’s delicate yet haunting because behind the haze, you can make out an object. It’s unclear what it is, but there’s something there. Maybe it’s the real you.
With five months between releases, I’m hoping to hear more from RYD sooner than that.
